A Fortunate Situation

What you see here may appear to be a collection of yummy cookies, but do not be deceived. The large one is actually my old resume. When I graduated from college, we were encouraged to have something to give away at our portfolio show to potential employers, so I figured since I needed all the luck I could get, why not turn my resume into a soft fortune cookie?

Two years later, I still didn't have a job in my field (graphic design), I was miserable, and depressed. Michael had gotten a job at an interactive place and I started hanging out with them during lunch. One day, I was pouring my heart out to the creative director, " I just don't know what else to do! I can't catch a break!". In a fatherly sort of way he replied, "You know, what you need is a good gimmick. There was this girl once with this great resume. It was like aaaaaa......aaaaaa.....a fortune cookie! That thing was great! I think we still have it somewhere!" My jaw just dropped as I heard the words. "That was me."

Needless to say, I started working there soon after, and have ever since. It took a long time, but that resume really did pull through for me in the end. So to honor all of those long hours making resumes, (and to get rid of all this darn foam that is still hanging around) I present the fortune cookie earrings. May they bring everyone else as much fortune as they have brought me. :)
